More than £145,000 has been invested in safety improvements and new play facilities at Ysgol Tir Morfa, an additional learning needs school in Rhyl.
The work includes 37 new fire doors, upgraded fire safety measures above ceilings, and more than 370 metres of new perimeter fencing to help make the school safer and more secure.
Intercoms have also been installed at the main entrance.
Pupils will also benefit from a new soft play area, created by transforming a former changing room into a dedicated space for play and development.
The facility features 18 elements, including padded walls and flooring, a ball pool, trampoline, slide and specialist soft play equipment.
Soft play areas can help children develop physical and cognitive skills, while also providing a calm environment for pupils who may become overwhelmed by sensory stimulation.
The fencing and soft play facilities were funded through the Welsh Government’s Additional Learning Needs Capital Grant, while the fire safety work was paid for through Denbighshire County Council’s school maintenance programme.
Councillor Huw Hilditch-Roberts, the council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Education and Children, said the improvements would help keep the school up to date and provide pupils with an additional space to play and develop.
