People across North Wales are being invited to share their experiences of policing and help shape how equality, fairness and inclusion are addressed over the next five years.
North Wales residents are being asked whether they feel fairly treated by the police, what equality issues matter most to them and what changes they would like to see in the future.
The consultation has been launched by North Wales Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner as work begins on a new Joint Strategic Equality Plan covering 2027 to 2031.
The plan will set out how the two organisations intend to promote equality, tackle discrimination and ensure policing services are accessible and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve.
Members of the public, community groups and organisations working with different sections of society are being encouraged to take part, with feedback intended to help establish the priorities for the next five years.
The consultation asks people how fairly or unfairly they believe they are treated by police, which equality issues they consider most important today and what concerns they would like the force to address.
The findings will help inform the objectives of the new plan and provide an opportunity for people whose experiences may differ from those of the wider population to influence future priorities.
Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales, Andy Dunbobbin, said promoting equality and fairness was both a legal responsibility and a moral duty.
He said it was important to hear from as many people as possible to ensure the plan reflected the experiences, challenges and needs of North Wales's diverse communities.
The work builds on responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, which requires public authorities to have due regard to eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations between different groups.
For policing, this can involve examining how services are delivered, how people are treated when reporting crime or seeking help, and whether different communities face barriers to accessing support.
The consultation is open to people across the region, including those who have had positive experiences of the police as well as those who believe improvements are needed.
Anyone wishing to take part can email opcc@northwales.police.uk to request a copy of the consultation questions.
The closing date is 21 November 2026.
