Conwy County Borough Councillor Aaron Wynne has announced he will step down at next year's local elections, bringing an end to a decade representing communities in the Llanrwst area.
Councillor Wynne represents Llanrwst, Llanddoged and Maenan and says his term on Conwy Council will come to an end in May next year.
He was first elected at the age of 20 and says he is now preparing to make way for someone new to represent the area.
Reflecting on his ten years in the role, Cllr Wynne thanked residents for their support, conversations and trust, saying it had been a privilege to represent them.
He says the experience has given him a greater understanding of the community work which often takes place behind the scenes, as well as the opportunity to deal with day-to-day local issues and represent the area at council meetings.
He also highlighted the development of local projects, including the library at Glasdir, as one of the things he has been proud to see grow during his time as a councillor.
Cllr Wynne described the role as challenging at times but ultimately rewarding because of the opportunity to represent his local community.
With the next council election due in around eight months, he says there will now be an opportunity for someone new to step forward.
He has also invited anyone interested in standing for Plaid Cymru in the next election to contact him for a conversation about the role.
Thanking the people of Llanrwst, Llanddoged and Maenan for ten years of support, Cllr Wynne said it had been an honour to serve as their local councillor.
