A new walking and cycling bridge has officially opened in Glan Conwy, with local residents gathering to celebrate the completion of the Lôn Yr Adar Bridge.
The bridge, which opened on Sunday, forms part of a wider Active Travel route designed to improve connections between Glan Conwy and Llandudno Junction.
Funded through the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund and delivered by Conwy County Borough Council, the project is intended to provide a safer alternative for people walking and cycling, while reducing the need to cross the busy Black Cat Roundabout.
It is also expected to make it easier for residents to reach local amenities and continue their journeys towards Conwy and beyond.
The opening ceremony included performances from Glan Conwy Community Choir, Cor Pobl Llan, and local musician Alistair James.
Conwy Council leader Cllr Julie Fallon said she was proud of the project and its potential benefits for the local community.
She also highlighted the involvement of local children in naming the bridge, saying she was excited to see the difference it would make for future generations.
Claire Hughes MP said the new link would make it easier and safer for people of all ages to travel towards Llandudno Junction, Conwy and beyond.
She said it could help people leave their cars at home when travelling to work, school, shopping or the cinema.
Local ward member Cllr Sharon Doleman said the project had been many years in the making and praised everyone involved in bringing it to completion.
Cllr Mike Priestley, Conwy Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Roads and Infrastructure, said the bridge provides a safer and more scenic route for walking and cycling while helping to reduce pressure on one of the area's busiest junctions.
Following the ceremony, members of the public were able to walk across the new bridge and speak to members of the project team.
The Lôn Yr Adar Bridge is now open for public use.
