Call for volunteers to tackle litter on Rhyl Beach

October 18, 2026 - 228 views

Volunteers are being invited to help clean up Rhyl Beach later this month as part of efforts to tackle marine litter and reduce the risk of flooding.

The beach clean will take place on Monday, 26 October, from 3pm to 4pm, starting from the Pavilion Theatre car park on East Parade.

The event has been organised by Denbighshire County Council’s Flood Risk team, with equipment provided by Keep Wales Tidy.

The monthly initiative aims to remove litter from the beach while helping to protect the local environment and reduce the potential impact of waste on waterways and drainage systems.

Marine litter can block waterways and drainage channels, restricting the flow of water and increasing the risk of localised flooding further upstream.

Removing rubbish from the beach can also help natural coastal features, including shorelines, dunes and seagrass beds, to continue providing protection against the sea.

The clean-ups also help maintain the beach for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Anyone interested in taking part can contact the council’s Flood Risk team by emailing floodrisk@denbighshire.gov.uk or calling 01824 708399 for further information.
