North Wales Police have renewed an appeal for information following the death of a six-year-old boy in Llanfairfechan.

The child died following a collision involving a white Ford Transit tipper van on Mill Road at around 5pm yesterday evening, Thursday, October 1st.

Detective Inspector Tim Evans, of the North Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said officers' thoughts were with the boy's family and loved ones at what he described as an “incredibly difficult time”.

A full investigation into the circumstances of the collision is continuing.

Police are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area around Pen y Bryn Road and Mill Road at around 5pm and has not yet spoken to officers.

They are also asking anyone with private CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage to come forward, even if they do not believe the footage contains anything significant.

The driver of the van, a 39-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information can contact North Wales Police via their live webchat or by calling 101, quoting reference 26000807122.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are asking people to respect the privacy of the family and others affected, and not to speculate about the circumstances or share material online while the investigation continues.
