Put kids at risk, pay the price: Police crack down on parking

Local police officers in Conwy County are becoming increasingly frustrated with selfish and ignorant drivers parking dangerously outside school gates and on zigzag lines.

In recent days they have been forced to issue warnings to delivery drivers and parents of school children for putting their own kids at risk.

A spokesperson said: "In one morning we had to speak to a delivery driver who was parked half on the pavement so blocking both the zigzags and the pavement, as well as two parents of kids who attend the school we were outside of.

"One of the parents seemed so blasé about his warning that he decided to sarcastically shout 'I did not know you did parking enforcement'.

All of the vehicles were parked very close to signs which specifically warn drivers not to park on the zigzag lines.

Sergeant Ball of the Neighbourhood Policing Team emphasised the importance of child safety and warns that fines will soon be issued to those who continue to ignore the rules.

"This kind of attitude towards child safety is shockingly unacceptable and needs to stop. We will soon be moving from education and warnings to issuing fines so for those in the vast majority of responsible drivers and parents we thank you.

"For the small minority who dont seem to understand or care. you may as well start saving up now as the fines are going to hit you hard".
