A man has been jailed after assaulting two police officers while they were trying to arrest him in Porthmadog.

Joshua Atkinson, of Henfaes, Dolgellau, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 23, where he admitted two charges of assaulting police constables in the execution of their duties.

The 31-year-old was approached by officers on September 22 after he breached a court order.

Police said Atkinson resisted arrest and spat at the two officers during the incident.

He was subsequently taken before magistrates and sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.
