Flood alerts issued as Storm Boelo hits North Wales

Flood alerts are in force along parts of the North Wales coast as Storm Boelo brings strong winds and heavy rain to the region.

Ferry services between Holyhead and Dublin have already been cancelled, while yellow weather warnings for wind and rain cover Wales.

A yellow wind warning is in force across the region for 33 hours, lasting until 9pm on Sunday. A separate yellow rain warning covering all of Wales remains in place until 11pm tonight.

The flood alerts, in force as of 12.35pm today, cover several coastal areas, including the North East Wales coastline between the Dee Estuary and Abergele, and the west coast of Anglesey from Cemlyn Bay to the Menai Straits.

Alerts also cover the LlÅ·n Peninsula and Cardigan Bay coastline, extending from the Menai Straits to Borth.

Residents and visitors are being urged to keep up to date with the latest weather forecasts and flood information, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas.
