Conwy’s Social Care Service has submitted an application to demolish Meadow Lodge on Abergele Road, Colwyn Bay.

The site is the proposed location for a regional Children’s Assessment Centre.

The proposed centre will be for Social Care and Health professionals to work together in one location to assess the needs of the children and their families and carers.

It isn’t intended to be a permanent home for children, but it will be a place where children can be safely cared for by a residential team, and where children and their parents / carers can meet an on-site therapeutic team.

The site is currently unused and the development will require full demolition of the existing derelict buildings. The team working on the development have consulted CADW and the existing property doesn’t meet criteria for listing.

The application for permission to demolish has been submitted to the Planning Authority and is currently going through the planning process.
