Bayside back on your radio in the Bay of Colwyn from Monday

Bayside Radio returns back to the airwaves from this Monday in response to the local lockdowns in Conwy and Denbighshire.

Following on from the successful broadcasts which ran from March until the start of September, radio regulator Ofcom was quick to issue a new temporary licence to the station which is based in Colwyn Bay town centre.

This now means that Bayside will be broadcasting across the local area principally to residents and businesses in the Bay of Colwyn on 87.7FM, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The broadcasts will initially run up to the start of December but possibly for longer dependent on the need to provide essential health information on COVID-19 and the local situation to residents during more uncertain weeks.

"We are very pleased to be back serving our community in the Bay of Colwyn but hoped it could be in much different circumstances. It will be our aim to reflect on what is going on in our community but most importantly to entertain and provide some companionship with our team of brilliant volunteers and presenters." said Operation and Content Director Simon Wynne.

"I can promise everyone lots of laughter and music mixed in with the most important local news on how we can best tackle Coronavirus together. It would be great if you could join us once again in your home, car or work place. We are also looking forward to promoting work of the many charity and voluntary groups which are keeping us all going."

Bayside is a not-for-profit group manned solely by volunteers with the aim to bring a full time local radio service to the Bay of Colwyn.

Later this month the group are about to take part in a trial service on DAB Digital Radio across North West Wales to learn more about the possibilities that this technology has for reaching new digital listeners in the locality.

Simon explained more."We will be taking this opportunity to bring Bayside to people who are listening digitally and promote the wonderful area which we live in along as well as focusing on very relevant local issues including jobs and employment.

"Our focus will always remain on the Bay of Colwyn and through our work, we hope to promote positivity and pride in our wonderful area."

Keep an eye out for Bayside leaflets being distributed around the area with detais of programmes and community information over the next few weeks.
